UK artist creates soothing music out of bar items

Sarah M Farmer, a Birmingham based artist who loves to explore various sound techniques and homemade instrumentation, has yet again managed to create music out of things we often discard. Dubbed as Musick for bar items and rotating technology, the performance involved melodic tunes emanating from bottles, wine glass and the wind up gramophone. The site responsive performance combined stuff from The Vaults’ bar with mechanical items to produce soothing music.

The strange musical blend owes its origin to bar items. While a gloggomobil plays the sound of bottles, a record player reproduces the resonating sound of a rotating wine glass. For adding more variety to the arrangement, the artist amplified the mechanical sounds of a wind up gramophone and further, mixed it with other sounds. The artist utilized Pythagorean scale and found patterns within acoustic properties of objects to put up the performance. Creative indeed, what do you say?
