Tactile Glove to ease your shopping in supermarkets

Locating a small item in a supermarket or a department store often becomes irradiating, for buyers sometimes have walk across the entire store and check different shelve, filled with identical products, to get that one specific product.  Addressing the issue, Researchers at HIIT and Max Planck Institute for Informatics have come up with a Tactile Glove that makes use of computer vision -based hand tracking and vibration feedback to guide the user toward a particular shelf or product in a store.

Made using economical off-the-shelf components, including four vibrotactile actuators, a Kinect sensor and a glove, the Tactile Glove connects to the Smartphone (via Bluetooth) of the user to steer his/her hand toward an object of interest. The Tactile Glove not only makes your shopping fast and easy, but it also allows a very intuitive experience in a shopping center.
