Users often wish to stretch the wire of their gadgets for an extend reach so they could enjoy their favorite movie or music while lying comfortably in a lounge or bed. Addressing the issue, researchers at North Carolina State University have come up with stretchable wires that extend eight times more to the original length and that too without losing the conductivity. Featuring a super elastic polymer tube filled with liquid metal, the stretchable wires are just ideal for chargers and headphones.
Filling the stretchable polymer tubes with a liquid indium and gallium metal alloy to provide conduction for electricity, the new elastic wires are orders of magnitude that are more stretchable than the most conductive wires available in the market.
